Basic knowledge for searching with a avalanche transceiver, using your probe and the best way to dig.
There are plently of avalanche search and rescue guides on the internet, we are not trying to provide a full guide on this page, you can not rely on theory alone there is no substitute for practice, more practice, more practice and then let the pros train you as well.
A point we must mention, which many on-line pages seam to forget is, one of the first things after an avalanche is to phone the rescue service. If you are in a group large enough to spare some then allocate this task to one person, if you are alone or the only person not in the avalanche then do not waste time get on with your search.
Many thanks to Ortovox for this guide and also the Tyrol Mountain Rescue.
