The BCA Tracker 2 avalanche transceiver, is one of the easiest and fastest avalanche transceivers on the market, because of its rapid processor and simple user interface. A real–time, digital display shows both direction and distance with bright red LEDs (light emitting diodes).
The distance is shown in meters and indicator lights display the direction of transmitting beacons. Triple antennae with real time display makes the BCA Tracker 2 easy to use. The search to transmit switch is very easy to use even with gloves on and is 18% lighter than the Tracker DTS and 12% smaller. Tests show that the BCA Tracker 2 has a longer range than the Tracker DTS and it resolves spikes flawlessly. More information on our review and test pages.
Who should be using?
Firstly we are sure here at SnowShepherd that transceivers really are an essential piece of kit for all skiers and snowboarders who are venturing even a few meters from the piste. With modern skis and boards, dare we say it but it’s too easy to go off piste!!
The temptation of all that lovely soft stuff! If you have ever thought “maybe I should have a transceiver” then there is no excuse GET ONE.
The common saying “there is no such thing as a little off piste” is, in our experience very true, having seen and narrowly missed numerous slides over the last few years just meters from the piste.
The BCA Tracker 2 is very easy to use and has a really good fast processor. The BCA Tracker 2 is a very good first avalanche transceiver choice and we are sure will become a standard to be achieved by other transceiver brands. The carry case and harness on the BCA Tracker 2 we think is very good making it comfortable to wear.
In our tests the BCA Tracker 2 was the fastest to target and in the final close search stage was equal with the Ortovox S1 and the newer Ortovox 3+, we are sure this is down to the speed of the processor that BCA use. Our first choice alongside the Ortovox 3+ for this season.
